How to Become a User Experience (UX/UI)Designer

A UX/UI designer does much more than just designing, it’s a fundamental piece in the development of any digital product.
A UX/UI designer is responsible for creating, developing, and maintaining digital products. In most cases, it’s a person with a degree in design, although this is not an exclusive condition. The UX/UI designer does much more than just designing. It’s a fundamental piece in the machinery of startups that develop applications and/or digital platforms.

In addition to ensuring that a product looks good and works well (a small detail), the UX/UI designer is responsible for defining the commercial objective, the type of market it will be marketed in, the supports it will be available on, the target audience, and the characteristics of the product.
What is a UX/UI Designer? To understand the role of a UX/UI designer, we must first understand what a UX/UI designer is. A UX/UI designer is a person who is responsible for creating user-friendly and intuitive experiences for digital products.

In this sense, a UX/UI designer is someone who focuses on creating digital products that are intuitive and easy to use, and that provide a positive experience for users.

Don’t fall in love with your designs. When designing a digital product, it’s essential not to fall in love with what you create. Digital products are alive, they constantly change. A product will never be in one form forever.
In the field of digital design, there is a maxim that always comes true: all products you create will eventually end up in the trash. Designs have an expiration date, and that date always arrives, inevitably.
Products change because user needs change. Similarly, trends also vary, and any product that wants to succeed in the digital market must align with new technology trends.

At this point, it’s important to note that when a UX/UI designer listens to user feedback, they must consider modifying only those elements that improve usability. We should never focus on changes related to personal consumer preferences. Any improvement in our application must respond to a logical argument. Changes without reason do not serve.

How to become a UX/UI designer?

To become a good UX/UI designer, it’s important to have a degree in design and experience in digital design. Additionally, it’s essential to incorporate the routine of observing, recognizing, and understanding what makes a good product.

Some suggestions for improving your skills as a UX/UI designer:

Ask for feedback: Ask for feedback from more experienced designers on LinkedIn.

Analyze structures: Copy structures that you like from other websites or applications and note why you like them or what you think.

Stay up-to-date: Stay up-to-date with the latest publications on design and technology.

Notes UX/UI: Keep notes on UX/UI-related problems with each website or application you use.

That’s why the UX/UI designer should never stop researching and seeking references to improve themselves. The UX/UI designer must train their eye, but before anything else, they must be willing to submit themselves daily to this training.

An impatient person could not be a UX/UI designer, because the work of product design takes time and one must learn to respect deadlines.

A good UX/UI designer must know when to fight and when to wait. A UX/UI designer must be a team player who knows well when to make certain decisions. And that’s not something that can be learned from books.

Comparison with Other Designers When comparing with other designers in the field of UX/UI design, several key differences emerge:

Interaction Designer: Interaction designers focus on creating interactive experiences for users, whereas UX/UI designers focus on creating seamless and intuitive user experiences.

Visual Designer: Visual designers focus on creating visual designs and aesthetics for products, whereas UX/UI designers focus on creating user-centered designs that prioritize functionality and usability.

Product Designer: Product designers focus on creating products that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing, whereas UX/UI designers focus on creating user-centered designs that prioritize usability and accessibility.
In conclusion, becoming a UX/UI designer requires a combination of technical skills, creativity, and attention to detail. By following the principles outlined above and staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, anyone can become a successful UX/UI designer and create products that are both functional and user-friendly.
